A man posed as a woman called ‘Charlotte’ to join a lesbian chat rooms before sending pornographic images.
Miles Bird is a 50-year-old hotel porter. He faced the Caernarfon Crown Court, based in North-West Wales.
Judge Huw Rees said Bird used the name Charlotte Williams to indulge his ‘warped sexual fantasies.’
Bird admitted to three cases of possessing indecent images of children.
His barrister, Andrew Green, said Bird was a man of previous good character.
Prosecutor Ember-Jade Wong said the North Wales police were alerted by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command that the images had been uploaded onto the internet.
‘Lesbian chat room’
She explained: ‘He accepted he had swapped images on the internet and conceded he had used the user name Charlotte1995 as a fake ID to access a lesbian chat room.’
Enquires by police traced the account Bird had used to his address. They carried out a search of his property and seized various items including a laptop.
Judge Huw Rees said Bird engaged in role-play online to satisfy his fantasies.
The court gave Bird a 18-month community order with a 50-day activity requirement and a six-month alcohol treatment program.
Police computer experts examined the laptop and found indecent images of young girls aged between seven and 15.
Wong said experts also found evidence of sexually explicit discussions.
She added: ‘The defendant told police he was in the habit of saving pornographic images on the laptop.’
Judge Rees told Bird: ‘You now appreciate you have played a part in the abuse of children by creating a demand for such images.’
Bird is the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order. He will also remain on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
