Alex Andre Wouts, a prison corrections officer at Fox Lake Correctional Institution in Dodge County, Wisconsin, was found guilty of sexually abusing three inmates.
After a three-day trial, a jury found Wouts guilty of five counts of second-degree sexual assault on Thursday (17 May).
The county circuit court judge, Joseph Sciascia, revoked his bond.
Wouts faces up to 125 years in prison, followed by 75 years of supervision, and $500,000 in fines. Sciascia set sentencing for 20 July.
The investigation and crimes
Officers began their investigation at the institution on 2 December 2015.
They spoke with three inmates, all alleging sexual abuse at the hands of Wouts.
The first victim told officers he had numerous encounters with Wouts. He further said Wouts performed oral sex on him, usually at pre-arranged times on the third shift.
Another victim said Wouts asked him to perform oral sex, further commenting the victim didn’t need to be afraid. He then reportedly told the victim he’s been doing this for 10 years.
The final victim alleged he had between 50 and 55 encounters with Wouts. He said Wouts sexually assaulted him typically one to times a week, usually with oral sex. On one occasion, they had anal sex.
Investigators also found a pair of underwear with DNA results matching both Wouts and one of the victims.
On 4 December, the officers interview Wouts.
He denied the sexual assaults and said he was ‘not gay and would never ruin his reputation or his family to do something like that within the prison system.’
