The latest series of Drag Race, may be over, but Liverpool’s newest LGBT venue promises to keep the drag flag flying.
Out! sports multiple dance floors, bars and a games area. There’s even a showroom for resident drag acts.
The club, which opened its colorful doors only three weeks ago, is offering drag performances every half hour, on Fridays and Saturdays.
In house acts have ben named as Krissy Friday, Azzuro Penderghast and Violet Period-Pain. OUT! is also booking non resident acts.
Courtney Act booked for next week
Australian drag act and entertainer Courtney Act will perform at the Liverpool venue on 28 July.
Bitchy retorts and sultry one-liners are guaranteed to form an essential part of the drag team’s repertoire. However, the aim is to create a fun attitude-free evening for patrons.
‘I want it to be a gay McCooley’s or Wetherspoons, somewhere where it isn’t super pressured’, the club’s general manager, Ryan Fanthorpe, told the Liverpool Echo.
‘It will be a place with no attitude and everyone can go in and have fun and watch drag queens without tension.’
The paper reported that the nightclub was described as a venue ‘thrown up from Katy Perry’s California Gurls video’.
In addition to it very colorful and playful decor, the club boasts a mosaic-mirror lined bar and rainbow strewn wall and piano.
Favourite catchphrases from RuPaul’s Drag Race adorn the walls in graffiti script. One reads ‘SHANTAY YOU STAY’, while another says ‘COVERGIRL’.
The centrepiece is the club’s showroom, a sizeable stage area and audience space from which drag acts will perform.
Out! opened its doors three weeks ago and promises lots more to come.
As RuPaul herself might say: ‘The time has come for you to lip-sync for your life’, so OUT! ‘You better work’.
