Ryan Murphy is continuing to make his history with his upcoming series, Pose.
The new show, set in 1980s New York City, first made waves when it cast the most number of trans actors in series regular roles.
Then, the creator revealed yesterday on Twitter he’s donating 100% of his profts from the show to trans and LGBTQ charities.
I am donating 100 percent of my profits from my new FX show POSE towards trans and LGBTQ charitable organizations. These groups do amazing work and need our support. Every day for the next 14 days I will highlight a group I’m supporting, and encourage you to do the same!

Over the next two weeks, he’s planning on highlighting the receiving groups.
The first organization he highlighted is the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. As he explained, the group ‘works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence’.

Making a difference in people’s lives
Murphy, who recently signed a $300 million deal with Netflix, explained the decision to Variety.
He said he was inspired by his work with Half Foundation. The organization helps support women and minorities in jobs behind-the-camera.
‘We’ve entered this area of television as advocacy, and I’ve seen the difference you can make in people’s lives by showing up for them, caring for them, and helping them in any way that you can,’ he said.
Five trans women of color star in Pose. Furthermore, more than 100 trans people landed jobs on the production in a variety of roles.
Murphy spoke to all of them and revealed it struck him ‘how much they’ve struggled, how under attack they feel, how many of them find it difficult getting healthcare, and finding jobs’.
He added: ‘I just decided I need to do more than just making a show for this community. I want to reach out and help this community.’
‘The struggle is real and it’s not getting easier,’ he continued, referencing the current administration in Washington.
He concluded by saying television can change the world.
