Paul McCartney recently shared an amazing story with GQ, of the time he and John Lennon masturbated together with a group of friends.
You read that right.
In a recent feature, The Untold Stories of Paul McCartney, this came up as one such story.
He was over at John’s house with a group of friends, he explained.
‘Instead of just getting roaring drunk and partying—I don’t even know if we were staying over or anything—we were all just in these chairs,’ he continued. ‘And the lights were out, and somebody started masturbating, so we all did.’
The details of that night didn’t end there, however.
McCartney said there were five of them and as they continued to masturbate, they would shout out names to keep going.
‘We were just, “Brigitte Bardot!” “Whoo!” and then everyone would thrash a bit more,’ he recalled. ‘I think it was John sort of said, “Winston Churchill!”‘
He added it wasn’t a ‘big thing’.
‘Yeah, it’s quite raunchy when you think about it,’ he said. ‘There’s so many things like that from when you’re a kid that you look back on and you’re, “Did we do that?” But it was good harmless fun. It didn’t hurt anyone. Not even Brigitte Bardot.’
More close encounters
It wasn’t the only story McCartney shared where he and other members of The Beatles became extraordinarily close.
‘I know we had one bed and two sets of bunks, and if one of the guys brought a girl back, they could just be in the bed with a blanket over them, and you wouldn’t really notice much except a little bit of movement,’ he explained of the touring days.
‘I don’t know whether that was George losing his virginity—it might have been.’
Before his death, Harrison confirmed this: ‘After I’d finished, they all applauded and cheered.’
Other times, while traveling in the van with no heat in winter, McCartney said they made a ‘Beatles sandwich’, lying on top of one another.
‘In music, it made us a very tight band, but as friends it made us able to read each other.’
