The 11th annual SNEP Symposium is being organized by the Stonewall National Museum, Archives, & Library, and it will take place in Fort Lauderdale from April 11 to 14. This symposium aims to equip educators, families, and students with the necessary resources to foster a safer and more supportive atmosphere for LGBTQIA+ individuals in K-12 schools throughout the United States.

The Stonewall National Education Program (SNEP), available to everyone, has been assisting both educators and administrators since its establishment.

The SNEP Symposium will take place in Fort Lauderdale, primarily as an in-person event at the Stonewall Museum and other venues. While select programs will be accessible virtually, it is encouraged for all educators to participate in the discussions led by educators. These discussions will focus on sharing best practices that contribute to creating an inclusive educational environment for LGBTQIA+ youth.

The Symposium provides opportunities to engage with comprehensive curriculums that encompass LGEBTQ+ history, culture, and other vital components to ensure the representation of all individuals within the educational system and its practices. How can educators at schools or in classrooms address anti-LGBTQIA+ policies and procedures, connect with fellow educators, and explore additional resources?

Individuals from across the US will be in attendance, including teachers, counselors, school administrators, board members, and state Department of Education representatives.

The symposium holds immense value for educators, particularly during a period filled with unpredictability and challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities, expressed Robert Kesten, the Executive Director of Stonewall. Enhancing our educational system and equipping individuals with resources that foster unity and bridge divides is the most effective approach to combat ignorance and bigotry.

Registration for the event is now open.
