Brooke Blurton is the latest finalist on The Bachelor to come out as bisexual.

The first Indigenous contestant on The Bachelor Australia, Brooke has revealed she is attracted by both men and women in a recent interview.

The 23-year-old will take part in the upcoming season 6 of the show, trying to win the heart of pro rugby player Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins.

According to NW magazine, Blurton identifies as bisexual. She is up to ‘finding someone seriously’ and is looking for ‘someone who has passion and drive to do amazing things, but also has empathy and compassion for others’.

She also says she ‘will be expecting Nick to be very accepting of [her bisexuality] if he falls for her’.

Brooke Blurton also opened up about her traumatic past

Blurton also opened up about her darkest days. Her mother committed suicide when Brooke was only 11. As a result, she and her brothers ended up in foster care.

A youth worker and an AFL (Australian Football League) player, she also hilariously confessed she knows very little about rugby. She, in fact, had no idea who Nick Cummins was.

‘I did laugh at myself when I watched the promo. I didn’t know who he was! Because AFL is my preferred sport, I don’t really know rugby players and as I said, “I still don’t really know the rules”. So when they said I was a professional Rugby Union Player, I was in shock,’ she said.

Before Brooke, many others came out as bi

Brooke is only the laster contestant on the franchise show to come out as bi. The contestants’ coming out, in fact, have increased bi visibility in mainstream shows.

A contestant on the 2017 edition, Natalie Holmberg, also revealed she was bi.

2016 was a great year for bi women on The Bachelor Australia. Megan Marx made headlines when she left Richie Strahan to date co-star Tiffany Scanlon. They broke up in 2017.

That year’s winner Alex Nation also identified as bisexual. She started dating AFL player Maegan Luxa after things didn’t work out with Strahan when the show concluded.

A former contestant of the 2015 Bachelor, Heather Maltman, also candidly came out as attracted by men and women.

‘To me, I see people I am attracted to as wonderful souls, not a gender,’ she explained.
