The Cher Show is coming to Broadway

Cher fans rejoice! A bio-musical about the musical icon’s life is coming to Broadway this fall.

The show was first announced last year. It will be playing an out-of-town run at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre from 12 June through 15 July. Then, the show will head to The Great White Way’s Neil Simon Theatre.

As of 17 April, the show found its complete cast. Actresses Teal Wicks, Micaela Diamond, and Stephanie J. Block will play the singer at three different stages of her life.

The show

‘The kid on a tricycle, vowing to be famous. The teenage phenom who crashes by twenty. The glam TV star who quits at the top. The would-be actress with an Oscar. The rock goddess with a hundred million records sold. The legend who’s done it all, still scared to walk on stage. The wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend. The woman, looking for love. The ultimate survivor, chasing her dream. They’re all here, dressed to kill, singing their asses off, telling it like it is. And they’re all the star of The Cher Show,’ the production description reads.

The musical’s book is by Rick Elice, direction by Jason Moore, choreography by Christopher Gattelli, and orchestrations, arrangements and musical supervision by Daryl Waters. The set design is by Christine Jones and Brett J. Banakis, lighting by Kevin Adams, and sound by Nevin Steinberg. Cher’s long-time costumer Bob Mackie will also be part of the team.

The show will include Cher hits such as I Got You Babe, Believe, Take Me Home, If I Could Turn Back Time, and more.

The Broadway previews begin 1 November, and the show will officially open on 3 December.
