Today is the last day to request a new survey form or online access code to vote for marriage equality

Today is the last people can ensure their voices are heard in Australia’s postal survey on same-sex marriage.

Friday 20 October at 6pm (across Australia) is the cutoff to request a Secure Access Code to vote online if you are overseas. It is also the last day to request a replacement survey form in Australia, if yours was lost or damaged.

Former Olympic legend and Equality Campaign Ambassador Daniel Kowalski encourages Australians to make their vote count.

‘Anyone who has a spoiled or damaged survey or has yet to receive their survey in the post needs to order a replacement by today,’ he said.

‘If you’ve lost your survey form, or if you need to vote from overseas, don’t miss this final chance to make your YES vote count and have your voice heard.

‘While almost 11 million surveys have been returned, there are millions of surveys still out there so it’s important to get every possible YES vote in the mail by October 27.’

Key dates in the Australian marriage equality survey

Angie Greene of the Equality Campaign added:  ‘Time is also running out for the more than a million Australians who are working or travelling overseas to make their voices heard by asking a trusted friend to fill out and return the survey on their behalf or by voting online with a secure access code. It is vital that no Australian misses out.

‘Supporters of equality and fairness cannot be complacent.

‘We urge anyone who has misplaced their survey form or has had it damaged to contact the ABS to request a replacement form by today.’

How to get a code or new form:

  • Order a form or code online via the website (for overseas voters)
  • Call the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey information line on 1800 572 113 (8am to 8pm),
  • Or visit a pick up location in all capital cities.

All votes must be returned by 7 November with the results revealed on 15 November.
