Gay twitter is awash with conspiracy theories about an alleged fatal car crash involving RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, Robbie Turner.

The season eight queen posted on social media over the weekend that an alleged drunk driver hit the Uber she was travelling in. She claimed her driver was killed in the accident.

‘I just woke up. I’ve been in a car accident. I didn’t recollect it. I’m not certain what happened. My driver did not survive,’ Turner wrote.

‘I’m home with barely a scratch, but when I was informed of what actually happened, my closest family and friends came to mind. Wear a seatbelt. I did.’

Turner took the opportunity of surviving the alleged crash to encourage people to value their friends and family.

‘Sometimes, not often enough, we reflect upon the good things & those thoughts center
around those we ❤,’ she wrote on Twitter.

‘I think about those people who mean so much 2 me & 4 so many years have made me so very happy
& I count the times I’ve forgotten 2 say Thank you, & just how much I ❤ them.’

Something doesn’t add up

Hundreds of people reached out in support to Turner, offering condolences.

But a few inquisitive minds began to realize that something wasn’t adding up.

Media reached out to Uber and Seattle Police who said they had no records of any such accident occurring.

Seattle Police told People the city had not recorded any fatal crashes since February.

The team over at The Stranger worked out the the only incidents recorded near where Turner would’ve travelled from her regular Saturday night gig to her home in Capitol Hill did not line up with the timeframe on Turner’s social media posts.

The owner of Queer/Bar where Turner regularly performs said he also discovered some inconsistencies in the queen’s story.

‘In full support of our friend and manager, we reached out to evaluate Robbie’s condition and offer any help with his physical and mental recovery,’ Joey Burgess told People.

‘We also reached out in an attempt to support the driver’s family in their difficult time. And then we discovered some inconsistencies with the story.’

Turner taking a leave of absence from work

Burgess also said that Turner would be taking a leave of absence after the alleged accident.

‘We sincerely hope that this time will be used well to focus on [his] health and wellness,’ he said.

‘We will continue to ensure he has access to adequate resources to help him succeed. The company learned of this supposed incident last weekend from Robbie’s social media post.

‘We support Robbie’s art and wish him a speedy recovery so that he can continue to create and express himself to the world.’
