Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black
One of the most famous celebrity same-sex couples on the planet got married in May.
Olympic diver, writer and broadcaster Tom Daley tied the knot with partner, screenwriter and producer Dustin Lance Black, in a fairytale ceremony at Bovey Castle hotel in Devon, Englands.
The pair have both teased us with a handful of photos from the event, but yesterday they went one further: releasing a video to Daley’s YouTube channel.
As you would hope from the involvement of a major Hollywood player (Lance Black won an Oscar in 2009 for his screenplay for the film, Milk), the five-minute movie boasts stunning production values. It captures the pair’s magical day in all its romantic glory.
‘When Tom and I met four years ago, I knew instantly I was in trouble,’ says Lance Black at the start, explaining how the young Brit captured his heart.
‘I knew I’d met my match. I’d met someone who would inspire me, someone who I could admire but also somebody who would naturally be my best friend.
‘It didn’t hurt that he was incredibly cute and charismatic and didn’t let me get away with a thing!’ he jokes.
‘Everything that he does just makes me fall in love with him every day more and more’
‘Within the first few minutes of conversation with Lance, things massively changed for me,’ adds Tom Daley.
‘I fell in love. Every single part of him, the way he thinks, the way he acts, and everything that he does just makes me fall in love with him every day more and more.’
The pair, who have been on honeymoon in Spain over the past week, also shared the video to their respective Twitter profiles. They both tweeted to say revenue from YouTube views will go towards the UK”s LGBT Switchboard (@switchboardLGBT).
At the time of writing, the video has been viewed almost half a million times in less than 24 hours.
