A man who claims painkillers turned him gay said he won’t stop taking them.
In fact he’s so happy with his new lifestyle, he said he’d fight anyone who tries to take them off him.
Scott Purdy from Louth, Lincolnshire came out as gay through a Facebook status about two weeks ago.
It all started when he broke his foot in 2012 and began taking regular pain medication.
But after he started having negative side effects at the start of this year, he went to the doctor to see if they could change the pills he takes to manage the constant pain.
The doctor prescribed Pregabalin and about five days into taking the new painkillers, he noticed a change in his libido.
During this time, he was in a relationship with a woman that started six months prior. But then he noticed he was giving her ‘less cuddles and less attention.’
All he ‘craved and wanted was just male attention,’ he said on ITV’s This Morning program.

He thought it was weird so he stopped taking the painkillers. And when he did this, his sexual attraction to his girlfriend returned.
But then the pain returned with it.
So he started taking them again, broke up with his girlfriend and told the world he’s now gay.
‘It’s really what I’m craving right now’
When asked whether the anxiety-relief medication may have just helped him come to terms with his sexuality that may have always been there, he said he was never attracted to men before.
He went through an experimentation phase when he was younger, but nothing ever came of it.
When asked why he decided to keep taking the medication, he said: ‘I’m really happy now I’m on it. The fear is if I stop taking it, I start going back to how I was, but I wouldn’t want to do that.’
It’s not up to any of us to judge or belittle anyone’s coming-out journey. It is different for everyone, and each person has their own way of dealing with it (which may be out of their control).

During the same segment, Dr Ranj Singh said he was happy Purdy was happy with his life now, but it’s just not possible – in his professional opinion.
Dr Ranj said a side effect of the drug is a change of sexual desire. He said what it probably did was help him ‘express what was already there.’
As for dating, Purdy told the Daily Mail: ‘Currently I’m talking to this lad on Plenty of Fish and in a couple of weeks I’m going up to see him. He’s in London.
‘It’s really what I’m craving right now. I want to be with him right now.’
