It’s official: RuPaul’s Drag Race is more popular than ever.

VH1, the cable channel that airs the show, reports an 218% increase in viewers between the ages of 18 and 49 for the show’s season 9 finale last week compared to the previous season.

In all, more than 859,000 viewers watched the finale during which Sasha Velour was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar after an epic sudden death lip sync battle between the top four finalists.

Peppermint, southern belle Trinity Taylor, Shea Coulee and Brooklyn’s very own Sasha Velour were named the top four after host RuPaul decided not to eliminate anyone before the final.
The shocking finale capped off a season full of twists and turns from Charlie Hides lacklustre lip synch to Valentina’s #mask4mask controversy.

Overall, the show’s full season ratings were up an impressive 122% from last season.

For viewers who have not gotten enough, RuPaul will be back on the Logo channel beginning Thursday (29 June) with RuPaul’s Drag Race: Season 9 RuVealed.

The weekly show will feature never-before-seen moments with fresh commentary from RuPaul and the queens.

It was announced last week that RuPaul will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
