He’s of course known as a master of social media. And now Connor Franta has offered invaluable advice to anyone who feels such websites and applications are affecting their mental health.
‘Take breaks, man,’ Connor told GSN when asked what he’d say to someone struggling with the relationship between social media and mental health at Friday’s NatWest LGBT Awards in London.
‘I think social media is quite exhausting,’ the YouTuber furthermore added. ‘It can be a detachment from reality. I think it’s really important to take breaks and focus on yourself. It’s sad that social media is making people focus on people other than themselves.’
‘It’s truly like an addiction’
What’s the longest break Connor’s taken himself? ‘Not long,’ he admits. ‘I need to take my own advice. It’s hard. It’s truly like an addiction.’
Connor was speaking ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK this week.
The star won the LGBT Award for Online Influencer at the event in Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
Connor, who was born in Wisconsin in the US, came out as gay in a YouTube video in December 2014.
